Meaning "of the fathers" the French name Des Peres, while unlikely for a city settled largely by German immigrants, but the name was attached to the area long before the town of Des Peres was actually form back in 1934. The first post office popped up in 1848 and the first elementary school in 1892. The name Des Peres was wildly used before 1900 commonly referred to its incorporation before 1934. Today, Des Peres is home to about 8600 residents and is one of the more expensive places to live in the St. Louis suburbs.

Des Peres is located at the intersection of Interstate 270 and Highway 100 right at the West County Center.
